Franz Ferdinand’s Death
… and so, in a series of blunder, Ferdinand’s driver took a wrong turn. Upon realizing his mistake, he stopped the car. While reversing, the car stalled and its gears locked. Nearby sat Gavrilo Princip, who was part of the group that had been demoralized by the failed bomb attack earlier in the day. At that point, Gavrilo had actually given up on the assasination and was eating a sandwich. Seeing Ferdinand’s car stopping nearby was an opportunity too good to miss.
